Before & After: Photo Restoration Examples from Real Customers

What Photo Restoration Can Actually Do

Some photos arrive looking nearly gone. Faded to the point where faces are barely visible. Torn in ways that seem irreparable. Stained by water, creased from decades in a drawer, or missing pieces entirely.

Most of them can be brought back.

Not to some idealized version of themselves — preservation is more important than perfection — but to something close to what they looked like when they were new: clear, recognizable, and worth passing down.

The Types of Damage We Work With Most

Fading and discoloration. Decades of light exposure and chemical aging can strip a photograph of most of its contrast and color. Careful restoration recovers tonal range and, where color information remains, corrects for shifts caused by aging dyes.

Tears and creases. Physical damage from handling, accidents, or storage can often be repaired digitally in ways that are invisible in the final result.

Water damage. Staining and warping from moisture are among the more complex problems to address, but a great deal can be recovered when the underlying image detail is still intact.

Missing sections. When pieces of a photograph are physically gone, restoration involves careful reconstruction using context from the surrounding image — and a commitment to not inventing what cannot be known. Historical authenticity matters more than a dramatic result.

Surface scratches and spots. Handling damage and deteriorating photo paper leave marks that are distracting without being structurally serious. These are among the most straightforward repairs.

How We Approach Every Project

Every restoration begins with a review of the original. We assess what's present, what's missing, and what can be recovered without guessing. Work is done by hand, photograph by photograph. Technology assists. Human judgment decides.
