How Much Does Photo Restoration Cost? (2026 Orlando Pricing Guide)
One of the questions we're asked most often is some version of: what is this going to cost?
The honest answer is that it depends on the photograph. Some images need only minor cleanup. Others require careful reconstruction of missing areas, repair of tears and creases, or correction of decades of cumulative fading. Because every photograph ages differently, restoration pricing is based on the work required — not the size of the image.
Photo Digitization Pricing
Before a photograph can be restored, it typically needs to be professionally digitized. A proper scan creates a high-resolution archival copy that can be safely restored while minimizing additional handling of the original. Read more about why professional digitization matters if you're starting with a physical collection.
- Photo Digitization — $0.25 per photograph (100-photo minimum)
- Back-Side Capture — $0.25 per photograph
- Notes and Keywords — $1.00 per photograph (we read and record the writing on each photo, including cursive and old-style handwriting)
- 35mm Negatives and Slides — $1.50 per frame
- Medium Format and Specialty Film — $5.00 per frame
- Aged or Degraded Film — add $3.00 per frame
Photo Restoration Pricing
Every restoration is completed individually and receives a final human review before delivery.
- Light Photo Restoration — $5 per photograph. Dust removal, fading correction, and gentle cleanup.
- Standard Photo Restoration — $20 per photograph. Scratches, blemishes, small stains, and moderate wear.
- Advanced Photo Restoration — $45 per photograph. Fold lines, creases, cracks, moderate tears, and significant fading.
- Legacy Photo Restoration — $100 per photograph. Museum-grade work for missing sections, large tears, water, mold, or fire damage, and extensive reconstruction.
- Historical Photo Colorization — $5 per photograph, added to any restoration level. Read more about what the colorization process involves.
Why Restoration Prices Vary
No two photographs age the same way. A faded portrait with minor surface dust may take only a few minutes of careful work. A photograph with water damage, heavy creasing, and missing sections may require hours — and that work requires judgment, not just technique.
Pricing at Romero Imaging reflects the time and care required to preserve the identity and historical authenticity of the original. Technology assists. Human judgment decides.
